EMF and ELF Safety
Milligauss, electric fields, and how to verify a true low-EMF sauna
Look for under 3 mG magnetic field at the seated position while operating, measured across bench positions — not at the wall or unpowered. Best custom systems publish far lower: SaunaCloud VantaWave averages ~0.20 mG via combined wiring, grounding, shielding and CORE 5 power delivery.[1] Budget import cabins commonly test 5–100 mG manufacturer-stated, often without third-party verification.[2]
Definitions
EMF (magnetic field, mG): produced by current flow; falls with distance and shielding. ELF / electric field (V/m): present when wired even without current; reduced by shielding and proper grounding. Both should be tested powered-on, occupied-position.[3]
